I hope studies will be done comparing cities hit in the Asian Tsunami with NO one of these days (the aftermaths).

Maybe it's just a case of fat, priveleged Americans getting a rude wake-up call.

See and thats not my experience -- I grew up in the poorest province in Canada yet college was available to everyone. There were enough loans and grants to get you through.

I worked part-time pretty much every year so I don't have a lot of patience for the can't afford it argument here in Canada. The US with those sky high tuitions is different

Being cranky is hardly an excuse for some of the behavoir exhibited by some of these folks. There have been several reports of rapes of young girls in shelters and beating and stealing from the elderly. I have also heard reports of some of these folks geting mad and throwing things at the workers handling the voucher request. One guy tackled the guy who worked his deal, he got mad cause his card was only 1500 rather then the max of 2000, how ridciulous is that? I dont think anybody working in a shleter is asking for an heart whelmed thank you however I dont think the expected to be abused either. As for the fried chicken comment I am sure it wasnt meant as a racist thing, for crying out loud some folks dont even realize that chicken can be bought in large portions to feed a lot of people and not cost a whole lot. The whole group is not bad but i am sure there are a few folks in there acting out. This disaster shouldnt result in an excuse to act like an animal. I am not saying yeah these folks should bend over to show thanks they have enough to worry about, I am saying some shouldnt act bad tho.

Shame on them for not kissing the feet of their glorious Texas saviours
It's a pity they aren't thankful for the time they spend in Texas.

Ben: tragically, they are. A lot of them want to stay, which is making ...umm, well, almost no one here happy.
I think those of you who are talking about sample pops, etc, clearly haven't spent enough time in N'awlins

I've been to Texas. Why anyone would want to leave is beyond me.

Makes sense to me Since the name of the state is texas. Would find it rather disturbing if we were called californians being that we live in texas.
