  • I bet they will be 12th.

    ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

      • ... because I didn't say earlier in this thread that ND will probably be ranked 11th?

Go ahead Dan, keep on lying to try to make your point. You always do .

So that's your prediction? And that would represent no "heart" premium?

          • Just caught this:

So prove it. It should be easy for you, right? ND should be rated no better than any one loss teams.

You have NO clue about college football do you? This week, Florida was ranked higher than UCLA, even though UF had 1 loss and UCLA had none. The pollsters thought Florida had more 'heart'? That's silly, if you were baseing it on heart, UCLA has had far more (especially in their win over Cal last week).

No, Florida has been a far better team recently. UF's prestige is higher, so they are given far more leeway.

I have no doubt ND will be ranked ahead of some 1 loss teams. They have a higher prestige than all of them, even though recently, before this year, they've sucked.

As befits a Republican, DanS thinks of the world in two colors: black and white. If it isn't wins, it MUST be heart to him!

Please... admit your pwning and move on. I know it's hard, but it would stop your bleeding.

And I think you are wrong. Cincinnati is barely worse than Pittsburgh (and they've beaten Northwestern, who beat Purdue this week). And Penn State has beaten a far better team than Notre Dame has beaten in Ohio State.

Also, ND may be undefeated on the road, but that means they've lose TWO AT HOME!
OK, let's look at it the other way.

Do you think Penn State plays USC as closely as Notre Dame did today in a hypothetical matchup in Happy Valley?

                I sure as hell don't.

With the same groundskeeping and a bye before hand? Yep. Maybe USC doesn't win in the absolute last second, but it'd go down to the last 2 minutes... no doubt.

                  • OK, now Imran is blaming the Irish groundskeepers.

It's amazing what you will say in order to justify a 11 ranking versus a 10 ranking.

                    • DID YOU SEE THE FIELD?! Please... if it wouldn't have any difference, why did they grow the grass super long? Have some sense, Dan... I know it's difficult for you.

It's interesting that you're whining about something that the announcers, the players, the coaches, etc. said absolutely nothing about over the course of the game.

                        • OK, then the Irish should be in the top 10. They have the best groundskeepers after all, and the pollsters should recognize that!

If you saw College Gameday or any preview shows, you'd have heard plenty of it. I believe it was on Gameday, where someone said that you could mow the grass twice (and I believe that came from a player)... and you had to be BLIND not to realize the state of the field.

There was a reason that ND's field was more overgrown than at anytime in probably the last 40 years during a season. It did its job.

                              • FSU's idiot penalties are killing them... less than 3 minutes left, and a big pass interference lets Virginia keep the ball.
