Why would I want to agree with it? Most of it seems contrary to everything I've ever witnessed or learned from reputable conduits of knowledge.

I've got gay friends that never once displayed any of the tendencies this guy mentions, and are still bastions of masculinity today, but prefer the company of men, so-to-speak.

I know you believe homosexuality to be wrong but do even you believe the stuff that is being put forth here.

I think there would be a whole lot less confusion over homosexuality in people if the idea that

does not follow gender sterotypes = gay

        was not favored

this would be a good thing for all involved (both for homosexuals and straights)

Ya it seems to equate being effeminant with being homosexual . I'm not sure there is that much of a correlation at all.

Exactly-- There are gay jocks, fighters, wrestlers, footballers-- the most masculine of men-- heck aren't their a fairly high number of gay bodybuilders?

The only difference I would guess is that a smaller proportion of people in these areas are comfortable being "out" since it is less socially acceptable.

Not to mention the Gay Rodeo.

I knew one guy into that stuff...drove a pickup truck and rode bulls, one of the "straightest" guys I knew.

I'm sure you could find some circlejerks of ignorance that are more to your liking Ben.

In 15 years, I have spoken with hundreds of homosexual men. I have never met one who said he had a loving, respectful relationship with his father.
Well, I'm one. Now, granted, we never showered together...

NEVER???? I bring my son into the shower with me fairly frequently but then again he's 2. But he does know what his "penis" is . . . well sort of since he has pointed at Mrs Flubber and asked "Where Mommy penis??

Not that I consciously remember. Now, he would help me take showers when I was little (like shampooing my hair for me and rinsing), but I don't remember actually ever being in a shower or bath with him.

Okay, this thread is really starting to creep me out.

I think that some of the difference is that the effeminate men are told that they are gay

I know that I have been told I was gay (or joked that I was gay, or thought that I was gay by people who knew me well.. etc)

edit: I would like to add that I am not particularly effeminate

Some of it makes sense to me, especially the statement that boys without a male role model in their lives are going to find things more difficult in finding their own male role.

And also what Jon Miller cited before, insistance that one is the opposite sex.

I also believe that this much lambasted 'reparative therapy' does work on folks who want to change and overcome their inclinations, much like alcoholics who go to AA.
