It would be nice if the two parties could learn to work together once in a while. Arnold's special election will be expensive and it is mainly just designed to try and hurt the other side. If Arnold spent half the time he spent thinking up his special election on actually trying to work with the State Legislature then we could have actually solved a few of this state's problems.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

History repeats itself. IIRC, his daddy did exactly the same thing in the follow up to Gulf War 1.

No wonder his mom can't clean them without his permission .

On a related note, has anyone ever seen Whoops Apolcalypse?

With his poll numbers plummeting Bush seems just like Johnny Cyclops and Blair seems to think that he's Superman.

                  No.

Chopped liver, for all its faults, has charisma, and probably would've been a better nominee.

                    I laughed at that too.

What doesn't often get said is that Clinton was never more popular than when the repugs went after him over Lewinsky. Most people thought that it was bad form on Clinton's part, but sided with him because the opportunism of the Republicans was so much worse and cancelled out Clinton's character flaws several times over.

IIRC his poll numbers bear this out.

It's a conspiracy of the liberal media that Lewinsky wrecked Clinton's presidency. In fact it was a quietly successful presidency. So was Bush I. Bush I was just too much of an old style responsible politician to beat a more charismatic man (imagine raising taxes because it was the right thing to do). As I've said before, I have little time for Bush I's politics, but let no one ever say that I don't respect the man. He fundamentally knew what he was doing.

Bush II doesn't have the faintest idea of what he's doing and is quickly driving the world into a political crisis.

                      What character flaws?

IIRC you are correctomundo, Agathon. If not increase, I don't remember them decreasing. They were sky high. Bush can't touch that. How many peacetime Presidents had consistently high ratings as high as Clinton?

If this is any indication, antiwar groups in Berkeley and San Francisco haven't marched in town in over a year since almsot everyone agrees. Instead, they're sending people out to the Central Valley and beyond to picket recruiting stations.

Do you really think that Bush II would beat Bill Clinton?
Considering that Bush beat out Kerry who got a higher percentage of the vote than Bill Clinton ever got, yes I do believe he wins in a two party race.

I've been transferring VHS tapes onto DVD, and I actually happened to run across an old debate from Bush v. Perot v. Clinton - it was a town hall. Fascinating stuff - and it was so obvious that Clinton with his charisma manhandled the other two. He's a political monster when his machine is well-oiled.

That last part didn't come out quite right.
