You are probably right. The fact that every time she has seen them she has said that "they cost too much" is really womanspeak for " I really want it"

      • You got it!

Every time I've gotten my wife a gift that "costs too much", there was much peace and joy in the land (and the bedroom).

Ya the more I think about it , the more I am thinking I better buy an overpriced purse .

Oh and ditto on paying too much . They protest a little but then I'm in total agreement on the much joy comment.

JohnT, just be careful with your joy since I'm hoping we won't see another "My daughter caught us" thread.

I'll try it, thanks to you both!

                • What's the best way to pwn someone?

                  Comment

                  • IMO, to cite and link them saying or doing the opposite from what they're currently saying.

For example, check out this thread. Aggie rants on and on about an unreleased Spielberg production about the '72 Olympics, calling me ignorant... until I pwned him by throwing his words in a Michael Moore thread back in his face. It's classic pwnage, if I may say so myself.

Interestingly enough, Aggie didn't show up on these boards for 3 days after that... in fact, after I posted that, he stopped posting and logged off. I know because I checked.

Otherwise, people just pwn themselves by usually getting their facts wrong.

                    • Actually, my sig is about the power of pwning oneself, Kuci.

In the first quote, Aggie states: "Movies are crap because their target audience is the mass of moronic, shallow, ill-educated cretins that make up the most of humanity. "

The next quote is Aggie talking about a movie. Which, according to him, by default its target audience is the "mass of moronic, shallow, ill-educated cretins that make up the most of humanity." I.e., himself, apparently, because he made this quote after seeing... a movie. Note that this line is about how one shouldn't rant against a movie until one has seen it.

The last quote is Aggie ranting about a movie that not only has he not seen, but hasn't even been made!

                          Which reminded me...

I was doing my usual job of archiving my favorite threads and I noticed that one was missing.

Why? It was pretty funny, and this board hasn't been archived since I wrote it?

                              • I have to write a 2000 word essay on some aspect of cell biology. Unfortunately it all bores the living crap out of me. What topic should I write about?
                                Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?
