While all the church references are a nice red herring, I think Jam was just doing it to prove the duke wrong since he actually is the mafia.

If he wasn't, surely Jam, with his great sense of irony, would have written what the duke mentioned, but instead he herrings myself and Rasputin because I hit it on the head last round.

To further protect myself (or really screw the duke) I say I'll probably be dead next time by the mafia from all this anti-duking (either that, or the mafia now kills me to have the duke docpiled... but I'm fairly sure I'm right.)

It was enough of an obvious clue for us to get, but not enough that everybody noticed it.
