My God. You mean 12 years of "useless" inspections and UN meddling have allowed Saddam to create missiles that now go over 150 miles ?!?

Making intermediate and strategic grade missiles often requires multi-stage and fuel systems beyond the capability of a nation like Iraq. Iraq has been modifying and improving 50's and 60's missile tech, which is limited...

The range limit at which point a weapon became offensive was decided in 1970, alongside the NPT. Ballistic weapons are largely dual-use... they can use both conventional and strategic warheads, therefore are a concern as a delivery system.

Countries which did not have a strategic capability prior to 1970 are essentially not permitted to develop new capabilities after that date.

To get back on topic for a minute...

I think most Canadians & Americans do think of each other as family. I have friends & relatives in the states, including 2 members of the USAF.

Since Dubbya came to power, our American cousin has become increasingly paranoid & violent, sort of like that relative who has a few drinks and starts to pick fights with everyone. You know, the one you always have to apologize for & clean up after. (Canadian troops are heading to Afghanistan for another rotation - we're also sending the economic aid we promised.)

Most Canadians (and quite a few Americans) don't like what they're seeing. Hopefully Bush will only be one term & someone a little smarter & less violent will replace him.

Americans really need to pull their heads out of their asses when it comes to Canada. They are our #1 trade partner, a steadfast friend. But they are their own country, and can do what they want.

Lest we forget, my fellow Americans, where did all the planes land on 9/11? Despite that incredible act, we continued to ignore Canada, manifested by Bush not even mentioning our neighbors in his big post-attack address.

I say, good for Canada. It's well past time we stopped taking them for granted.

Obviously I'm not going to read through 312 posts before posting. Saw this one though and must say I have to agree. We are good friends with the USA but that doesn't mean we go along with whatever they do. I myself support Bush on this. I'm sure most Canadians do. Now, I'm off to read all of the posts in this thread. Back in a few hours (days?)
