  • And their goal is to remake Canada in the image of the US

There is a high concentration of conservatives in the party, so they typically have conservative social and economic platforms.
So by your logic the US is predominantly social and fiscally conservative?

Strategic! We are learning from Quebec. Well, some of us are. Having a cabinet minister from Edmonton has come in handy from time to time.

But, that wouldn't fit your quaint little games, now would it?

btw, nice attempt at introducing 'bashing' as being significant. Ohhhh, the irony!
So they got lucky, it won't happen next time. They're way down in the polls.

          • U.S. would be there for Canada?!?! Yea riiiiight! Only if there's money for the U.S. to make at the end of the line, otherwise we would'nt even here from them.

U.S. only helps others if they have something to gain from it....
Well duh, your a civiled nation you should be able to protect yourself.

I hope so. However, it is inaccurate to depict them as a bunch of loonies from Red Neck country, as some people consistently attempt to do.

More CA MPs come from BC, than Alberta (Alberta returned a higher percentage though; 23 of 26 vs 26 of 34). They took over half of Saskatchewan, a few in Manitoba and a couple in Ontario.
You'd also have to look at the percentage of the voters in the ridings voting Alliance. I suspect that will be higher in Alberta, though I could be wrong. And the party did have it's beginning there.

I wouldn't say they are after an American image. Elected upper houses are being discussed in Westminster now, too.
That's not their only platform though. In many areas, they have a great deal of similarity with the Republicans in the US. And an elected upper house is hardly an Alliance thing, many people would like to see it, myself included.

Well if they're going to be electing leaders like Stockwell Day, what do you expect?

I think I actually prefer Day to Steven Harper. Day was a buffoon, but Harper just comes off as a jackass.

I think it might just be the timing.
