I am talking advanced screenings (it was $2 bucks since the proceeds go to some charity). I remember the number fo movie theaters for independent films in Chicago. I am sorry Ming, but NY and Chitown are not in the same level. Chitown is also sadly deficient in large multiplexes within the reach of the CTA. There are what, 20 screens in downtown? Not enough, damm it!

Mobius told me the NY film scene is crap - hardly any foreign films, only local product, including alternative. He was stunned.

I've had no problem finding NEW independent releases and foreign films in Chicago. And I go to advanced viewings all the time (It helps that I'm a member of the media community) Chicago offers a wide variety of film experiences.

What's being lost here is the need to be more precise.

There are to areas in the Midwest - The Great Lakes and The Plains.

The plains are Iowa, Idaho - pure farming.
The great lakes are Illinois, Indiana, Ohio - manufacturing and farming.

Indy is considered a much cleaner city than Chi-town. Am I right in thinking that Indy is relatively ignored when tlaking about large cities? Isn't in the top ten, or almost there?

Okay TV shows set in New York: Sex in the City, Friends etc.

TV shows set in the Mid West: Laverne and Shirley, Happy Days etc.

Yeah, nothing but farming up there in the Sawtooth Range and Hells Canyon.

I know that the term 'Midwest' covers some ground, but this is the first time I'm ever seen it include Idaho!

wisconsin is not the only area that makes cheese. vermont, anyone?

and in any case there is no difference in cheese qualities between the midwest and the east. refrigeration, anyone?

I've had deep dish pizza in both Italy and Chicago-style. Italian style deep-dish wins hand down.

Wisconsin Cheese is the best in the nation... Vermont is second rate at best

So there is a difference in quality. Even if you were to get the real cheese from Wisconsin... all you get is the crappy stuff that they export out of the Midwest
