We also have a highly educated technical workforce well adapted for the US markets.

There surprisingly are very few "rednecks" in Alberta, they live in the rural areas as farmers usually.

Calgary, for example, has the second-highest rate of post-secondary education in Canada, behind Halifax (which is skewed due to all their colleges).

I don't know if you realize this doesn't help your point. You just proved that the US timber lobby is so powerful it managed to put a 27% tariff on BC lumber. And since this is the case, why on earth do you think the US would let BC be part of the nation, since they have to ditch tariffs in that case.

And since this is the case, why on earth do you think the US would let BC be part of the nation, since they have to ditch tariffs in that case.

If they let BC in, the industries in competition are now in co-operation with the rest of the US. Selling BC lumber would aid in balancing the US trade deficit.

Another option is that they could demand raw logs be shipped from BC to American mills in the south, once BC is part of the Union.

Huh? If they let BC in, the companies in competition are still in competition. Only this time, there's no tariffs.

Companies don't cooperate with eachother instead of compete if they're in the same country...
