Like I think it's irresponsible to make a career in the army while having family you can't blame someone who got conscripted - you can't choose.

These people died while being part of the leading edge of human science. At least they died doing something, and achieving something of value to humanity. Risk is a part of life. Unnecessary and frivolous risk is irresponsible, but there are a lot of other kinds of risks, and somebody has to have vision and try to advance our state of knowledge and technology.
