      • Hah. No, more like Reagan, running up a massive deficit and lying to the public on important policy issues (instead of where Willy parked his Willy)

You haven't been following the econogeek thread. Clinton set him (Bush) up the bomb with the deficits.

Yeah, the GST was a very right-wing thing to do wasn't it. Go on, tell me more.

If you think that Mulroney was left wing, you must be bordering on Fascist.
Do you know what a fascist is?
              I'm HARDLY a fascist.

You must be really, really stupid if you think extreme right wing == fascist.

              I'm right-wing liberal, not right-wing authoritarian...

All the more reason why the CA should never, ever be allowed to rule this country.
How does that, in any way, have to do with the CA?

Something's in the water over there...

As for your Quebec comment, I'm sure they feel the same way about Alberta. A lot of people here in Ontario certainly do. And you're certainly not going to gain any sympathy for your province with statements like that.
You're such a tool, you have no idea when someone is joking or serious regardless of the smilies they use as BIG FLAGS to give you hints.

              • But he was still a taxer+spender. Like every other Canadian politician he had to support the social safety net. Anybody who tried to kill it would be tossed ou.

Obviously not if only 13.5% of the people support them. But like I said, that might change in the leadership convention.

I think losing Charest to Quebec was a serious blow to the PCs frankly, they would have been much better off he would have remained leader of the PCs. Joe Clark is to much of a yesterday's man, they need someone with new ideas. The sooner they put an end to the CA, the better I'll like it.

He was a tool on foreign policy issues. Independent of what you believe, it is good for Canada on foreign policy stage to be seen as being independent and not just US' gofer.

And I bet you 99% of those people wouldn't be able to tell you why the name of the party is progressive conservative too.

I still believe most of Canada is inept politically, and always will be.

It's such a shame, there's so much promise in this country.

                      Charest? GAHH!?

Did the US' national debt double or not during Reagan years? Same as Canada during Mulroney years.

BTW, do you know what Tory means?

Irish thief. At least Mulroney lived up to that promise.

No doubt. I just wondered if you could concieve of an anti-communist or rightist or whatever who was not labeled as a US tool. Is it a convenient label?

                          • He's perceived as a US tool because of NAFTA.

The only good thing he did, mind you.

Not really. He was like Blair. As soon as US declared foreign policy, Canada was there 100%. Gulf War, Cold War...

Well certainly not Bush. Almost anyone would look left wing compared to him. The first person that comes to mind would be Colin Powell I guess, but that's mainly because I'm not to familiar with your more moderate Republicans. The far right has kind of drownded them out of the media lately. He wasn't an extreme conservative by any means, but he certainly wasn't left wing.
