That said, you are welcome Journeyman.
Don't worry about it, I was just reading through my prevoius posts and I realised I sounded like an old fuddy duddy. If you're wondering why I went on for so long (considering I have had more to do with union), well there was a little incident that sparked it.

By the by, Havak, if you doubt the importance of our boys winning against the Wallabies, did you see the cricket yesterday? In response to last week's headline in the paper saying "Can anyone in England play cricket?" A group of people were holding up a sign saying "Can anyone in Australia play rugby?"

I know its a stretch considering we fell asleep at times and won by 1, but good on them.

My proposed margins are posted somewhere back on this page or the previous page. To save scrolling back, here they are again:

      1. England -v- Boks (Boks get 17 1/2 points).

      2. Wallabies -v- Italy (Italy gets 20 1/2 points).

      3. Wales -v- All Blacks (Wales gets 22 1/2 points). Pure guesswork. It might need to be 32 1/2.

      Anyone got other any suggestions?

      Here's our current Bank A/c.

      Andydog 277.5
      Caligastia 68.5
      finbar 73.5
      Havak 90.8
      LDiCesares 141.8
      Mickeyj 143.5
      NeoStar 114
      ravagon 94
      redbull 80
      Tamerlin 62.3
I doubt we will get a consensus before the weekend, so here are my bets:

      20 on the boks

      20 on the Wallabies

      20 on the All Blacks

With the margins you've proposed I'll go for

        10 on the Boks
        10 on Italy
and 10 on the AB's (unless that margin is blown out to 32.5 in which case put it on Wales).

PS: Journeyman - you start with 100 civ gold.
Or to put it another way - I'm going broke and I need yours.

What's this, a fantasy betting comp?

I prefer sportstab, but I suppose this way I wont incur the wrath of the family. 20 on England and 20 on the Wallabies will do me.

And one day you will all come to your senses. What, after all, has England given the world? Apart from Twinings' English Breakfast Tea?
The language we're typing in. The world would be speaking French otherwise, which wouldn’t really be a bad thing, Tamerlin? It was a subject of mine back when I was in Merseyside.

            The symbolic Civ Gold.

Very much a fantasy betting comp. We couldn't agree on a currency - pound, US dollar, Oz dollar, Kiwi dollar, Euro - so we opted for Civ Gold on the basis that no billionaire money-market manipulator is going to attack it. We awarded ourselves 100 Civ Gold each when we started because we're fiscally prudent. Only fiscal idiots would award themselves 1000 Civ Gold in these tough economic times.

Anyway, you are hereby awarded 100 Civ Gold. Don't let it burn a hole in your fantasy pocket.

Bets recorded. Note that we're betting margins. We seem to be going with my suggestions - well, wild guesswork - because we won't have time between now and tomorrow for our usual lengthy, heated discussion. Thus, for your England bet to succeed, England has to win by 18 points or more; for your Wallaby bet to succeed they have to win by 21 or more. If the Boks finish within 17 or fewer, or Italy finishes within 20 or fewer, you lose.

              The language we're typing in.
Yeah yeah, but if they hadn't invented it, the Americans would (and ballsed up the spelling), you know that. So, apart from cricket, rugby, Twinings' English Breakfast tea and the English language?

Bets recorded. It's good to see some of us going for the outsiders. It creates a win pool. Maybe I should've extended the Wales margin a bit to attract some bets.

You're running this thing? Well I better had take back what I said of you. A boofhead can't run a tipping comp, especially one with margins

Nothing at all! Just trying to think of something finbar can't claim someone else would have invented.

Yeah yeah, but if they hadn't invented it, my mother would've with her home brew kit (in fact, she did), you know that. So, apart from rugby, cricket, Twinings' English Breakfast Tea, the English language, fish and chips, and flat, warm beer?

Hot tip: The only English invention I might not be able to pass off onto someone else is - you guessed it! - a tired, old, marinated, ex-tighthead prop from Leicester.
