Muslim Visitors to US Treated Like Criminals

Yeah, I do think that the fingerprinting ought to be applied to everyone (just imagine all the government jobs that's gonna create, yikes!). But I do think concentrating the investigative resources of the FBI counterterrorism unit on young male Saudis/Iraqis/Iranians/Syrians/etc. more than on other groupings of people makes sense. Otherwise referred to as "profiling."

In other words, fingerprint them all, but the ones you are going to concentrate on will be the ones who belong to the age/gender/nationality group that is most likely to travel to the US in order to blow things up. That means that I would pay a little bit more attention to a 22 year old man born in Saudi Arabia who is entering the US via Pakistan. Please note that the argument that terrorists are also homegrown (Oaklahoma bombing) doesn't pertain to this issue, as we are talking about foreigners entering the country.

We should keep track of every alien that is in our borders be they an Arab from Yemen or a Caucasian from the U.K.

That's fine... but making only one group do this is wrong.

I agree with Chris... if you are going to do it, do it for all. Don't just highlight one group, making them criminals before they've even done anything!

To stay on topic, yes I think it makes sense to focus on this group but I think it should be handled in a less piss-off-all-the-muslims way. Who knows, maybe this will even provoke someone to do something radical...

I was fingerprinted as part of the process of becoming a permanent US resident, and I dont have a problem with it. What they need to do now is take fingerprints of all foreigners coming into the US whether they are here on a student visa, tourist visa or whatever!

IIRC, its a way to establish the identity of that person.
