  • Don't forget Rock and Roll and the Blues which came out of Jazz. And also don't forget their amazing food.

Black Southern culture is probably the best thing (culturally) in America (well, ok, maybe except for Coke, but it is also based in the South ).

Try explaining to the kid who works for his last 3 years of high school so he can get into UW, then gets rejected cause UW has reserved that spot for some black piece of **** who has never worked a day in his life, and probably will **** up his chances anyway and party with the money the state gives him. Since afterall, we know affirmative action has a horrible success rate. Well actually (22% of those who apply, will graduate. Oh that soooo ****in successful ). That is a true story from around here in Wisconsin.
faded glory, yeah something from all white Fox News (I don't care about a couple black teleprompter readers) is really going to change my mind.

I almost applied to UW for my PhD in political science, but if there are more people like you up there I'm glad I didn't.

Oh Ming will probably come in here and ban me for that apparent vieled racist comment. It wasnt racist, just my opinion
        Bullsh*t!
        It's VERY racist!

This kind of racist crap is not allowed at Apolyton. And if you consider it "just" an opinion... then you can cram your "opinion" where the sun doesn't shine.

One more post like this and you are going to be toast for a VERY LONG TIME.
        Keep on Civin'

        • Dress it up in all the "anti-PC" posturings you like. Racist crap is still racist crap.
Oh, but you can't call people 'racist' anymore. That's politically in-incorrect. You have to use the term 'politically incorrect' now.

Ah, yes. Because blacks, be they Americans or Somali, are indeed an ethnic group. How could we possibly forget?

But you forgot to explain your creative usage of quotes, I'm afraid.

                • ya know, THIS thread is one of the many reasons black people as a group don't want to hang with white people (in general). Orange, you ask why blacks "all know" each other at school, then attack their right to start and name their club whatever they want. You yourself admit to not even knowing what these organizations even discuss. YOu object to it on principle without even knowing it's principles. I'm betting that they don't all know each other and if they do, it's because there are so few of them that they can ALL know each other.

Orange did no such thing. He cited an observed phenomena and then asked why it occurs. He was posting a legitmate, objective query into why the things he sees are happening.

And he certainly did not attack anyone's right to start and name a club whatever they want.

Who says you can only be proud of your own achievements? My mom says she's proud of me for things I've done. Should I tell her to shut the f*ck up for trying to steal my glory?

Seriously, this is dumb. What's wrong with Black people being proud of their heritage? Nothing. And don't give me crap that white people can't be, as I see every white group in NYC having their own parade day. Germans, Swedes, Greeks, Irish...they all have parades.

The difference, however, is that Blacks in the U.S. were raped of their cultural and national identity by slavery. Ergo "Black" is the only thing they have for ethnicity.

He never said your OWN achievements. He just mentioned achievements. I agree. What is the sense of being proud of something you were born into? Like being proud of being American? Why? You can be proud of what America has done, but proud to simply be American is kinda strange to me.

For the same reason I can be proud my Grandfather helped liberate Europe in 1944-45. For the same reason I can feel proud that by Grandmother and Great Grandmother resigned from the Daughters of the Revolution when they refused to allow Marion Anderson to sing. It feels good to be proud of those we love and with whom we have a connection, even those remotely via ancestry. There's nothing wrong with it.

By your logic I could never feel proud of my parents, and that would be a real shame.
