Ming, F15 has to be one of the top contenders, but I wonder if it dominated its contemporaries more than say, the Sopwith Camel?
Has an F- 15 EVER been shot down by another aircraft

    I rest my case!

The new Russian fighter with vectored thrust is called SU-47 (S-37 "Berkut").
How to attach images in this forum?

        B-52 Superfortress.

Lets face it, this bad bear has done more damage and been put to more use than, well, pretty much anything.

The Damn thing has been in service since the '50's....and they plan on keeping it through 2040!

That's like having a fricking Sopwith flying today...

Who knows, just sounded better than the spruce goose. But it is a helluva plane.

          And what about the 747?

doesn't say WARplane in the title.

            Serb,

You use the attach file function. Must be either in JPEG,GIF, or PNG format to be displayed on screen.

It was an airplane so advanced the US government strongarmed Canada into destroying its designs and prototypes after a few flights back in the late 50s.

                Lots of info: http://web.idirect.com/~ccaft/arrow.html

                Excerpt:
On March 25, 1958, the Avro Arrow Mark I a "great, sleek, white bird," to one observer lifted gracefully from the runway and was airborne for the first time.5 The most advanced aircraft in the world, it exceeded all expectations. At threequarter throttle, the Arrow flew at nearly twice the speed of sound faster than the most advanced plane in the Canadian Air Force three decades later, the American F18.

The world speed record in 1958 was 1404 mph. The first five Arrows, fitted with temporary, less powerful engines, flew at 1320 mph. Into the sixth Arrow was installed the most advanced and the most powerful engine in the world, the brand new Iroquois, Canadian designed and built from scratch. On February 19, 1959, the Avro Arrow Mark II, fitted with Iroquois engines, was on the tarmac, being prepared for the test flight expected easily to break the world speed record. Behind it, another thirtyone Mark IIs, Iroquois equipped, were ready to roll down the assembly line.
Most of the Avro engineers went to the US after the Canadian government terminated the Arrow ( ) and worked for NASA. They then worked on putting a man on the moon...

I dare say The Excalibur could kick yer Avro's arse.

ROTFLMAO... That would even beat the F-15...

I'll have to go with the F4F Wildcats. That aircraft was the begining of the end for the Japanese Zero.
You mean the F6F Hellcat, don't you?

I would hope so... the F4 would have been the end of any prop fighter

No, he said the F4F, which was a US Navy, and, to a much lesser extent, Marine fighter, which was certainly inferior to the Zero except in terms of armor, self-sealing fuel tanks, and a coupla other things which didn't make up for its disadvantages.

Production of the Fokker DVII was actually banned under the Versailles Treaty. That should tell you something.
