Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy. We've got both kinds
I have all their albums and as much as I love Zeppelin, I often think many people overrate them as well. In fact, most popular bands are given a bit too much credit. There isn't an artist out there who hasnt done atleast a few really bad songs in their day, so dubbing anyone as a rock god doesnt usually satisfy me

The Cure. What any ever saw in this band i have no idea. Pure dribble.
I second that! Robert Smith, get a haircut for ****s sake Oh and talking about Smith, The Smiths!! OK, I know Morissey is a god to some, but really... The rest of the brit-pop genre is pretty awful as well, apart from Radiohead which I adore I never quite understood Thin Lizzy or Blue Öyster Cult either, or Emerson, Lake and Palmer or Yes (yikes! )
I don´t know if it´s a established fact that you don´t buy any new music after you turn 30, but it´s definetly the case for me. I just stock up on old music which I had on vinyl and/or groups I already listened to 10 or so years ago... I´ve even started to buy "Best of the 80´s hits" type of records
I still think one the best records of all time is "Dark side of the moon" and Maiden´s "Live after death", after 1990 there´s not much happening in the music scene as far as I´m concerned...
Edit: I must say that I enjoy both (the early) U2 and REM (at least up to "Automatic for the people"). Wonder why no one else does?
Blue Oyster Cult is certainly an acquired taste......but their contribution to whats known as heavy metal (in the early 70's), was quite important and influencial
I hear a lot of people crap on yes, but I like them alot....(Same people that don't like yes, usually don't like groups like the moody blues either am i right??)

Lots of suggestions I agree with, and lots of suggestions I don't agree with...
I'll just throw in another few names, although I'm quite sure not all of them are really liked by anyone around here anyway:
Guns 'n' Roses
Meatloaf
Alanis Morisette (after "Jagged Little Pill")

The Dave Mathews band - I dont get it. I just dont get it . Over-produced and musically way too busy.
The Grateful Dead- people used to follow these guys around the country. Why? Jerry Garcia always sang out of tune.

Robert Smith is a genius, you are a mere fool who has to conform to the norm...I stand by my group through thick and thin..The Cure has inspired me and made me the creative lass that I am. You wonder how??? Just read his lyrics..AMAZING
The only reason I was gone for so long was because I hate you people!!!
well now see......I used to like Guns & Roses. Thanks or the Greatful Dead reminder....YUCK! I never understood that one.
Blue Oyster Clut is something that's acquired...loved Don't Fear the Reeper. Prolly going to show my age here but it was along the line of the early Boston, 38 special, Journey etc........God I miss that music sometimes!
See if you old foogies remember this band......Head East

The Cure is not a BAND THAT EVERYBODY LIKES.. It is an acquired taste by those who like meaningful music. So he doesn't sing normal, so he wears makeup..His words are awesome and deep..The Cure is my one and ONLY favorite band in the whole wide world...Robert SMith is a Lyrical Genius!!!
Pleaze, the Cure is mindless pap for constantly depressed teenagers who overdosed on black eyeliner If you want awesome and deep lyrics check out Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) or James Hetfield (Metallica) even Neil Tennant (Pet Shop Boys) and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) writes "deeper" lyrics than whine boy Smith...

But is it the music you dislike or the fact that Michael Stipe is(?) gay? ie do you not listen to REM ´cause they have a gay singer?
