I don't see the attraction of Coldplay or U2
Radiohead are also hugely overated IMO

don't like emo-rock bands, slipknot, other punk bands...
I guess I kinda grew outta that whole "anti-conformist" immatture crap that some of my friends still listen to...
I'm more of a techno, ska, and old skool rock myself.
Like Earth,Wind,Fire...Benny Goodman, stuff like that.

See, I tried to pick a band that someone with my musical tastes would be presumed to like. I mean, Julio Iglesias has thousands of fans, yet it's irrelevant that I don't like him since, er, "no-one" likes him. No one, that is, with my kind of musical tastes. I could list thousands of popular bands that I hate, from Pink Floyd to Radiohead and beyond, but "no-one" who I care about the tastes of likes those bands.
Second entry: Joy Division. Oh I am a depressed poet lah-di-dah it gives me a licence to write boring songs.
I hate Don MacLean's "American Pie". What a bunch of overwraught feces. Everyone tells me about the deeper meaning of "the day the music died", and all I hear is a bunch of crap about a jester and levies.
MacLean's technically not in a band, but I had to get that one off my chest. Rage Against the Machine also drives me mad. I don't care if you like it, I just hate it popping on the damn radio so much. Also, P.O.D.'s "Youth of a Nation" is the early frontrunner for the 2002 "Excellence in Copying Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' Award".
Creed lyric template: Take a vowel, and stress it as hard as you can. Add a mild religious feel, and continue with another vowel.
An' I said OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... So I held my head up HIGH, blah blah blah (con't). Drivel, drivel, drivel.

Radiohead. Well, ok, OK Computer was pretty good and The Bends has some damn fine musicianship. But Bends falters in some of its lyrics ("fake plastic trees"? what?), though everything post-OK Computer just had lyrics that meant little or nothing, much like Weezer's work as of late ("dope nose"? please, I'm not retarded). And the music on everything after OK Computer seemed like they were trying too hard to 'change' music. No, you don't change music by trying to fake it; you change it by doing what you do. An honest revolutionary is always best.
The Strokes. Sorry, but I don't like it when bands intentionally change their sound to make themselves seem more 'indie' or 'garage'. Drummers intentionally missing beats is a no-no. If it's honest, it's honest. And Strokes lyrics rarely make sense.
I understand people's disgust with Tool. I always passed them off as being another lame heavy metal band until I paid attention to the lyrics. And as a drummer I can attest to the percussion genious behind Tool. But I still understand why others don't like them.
