Cruddy, first you list 5 Islamic countries that are alledged "friends of Bush." Then you call him anti-Islam because he supports Israel.

I call you and people like you anti-Semite, then, using your logic, because you oppose Israel.

When your actual thinking on this this topic is exposed and analyzed, it is as bigoted and irrational as I suspected.

In a leaked memo obtained from the British High Comission, CIA inteligence agencies have discovered what appears to be a agreement by the British to secretly arm the Iranian Army with small yeild nuclear missiles, in the event of any hostile actions from the American Forces based in the Middle East.

News from the Whitehouse reguarding this memo has not been forthcoming, but sources close to the President have said that he had been furious and immediately got on the phone to the British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

From the UK our own reporters have uncovered further information that this agreement had the backing of other European countries, notably both France and Germany and it was being seen as a measure to ‘stabilise the growing amount of tension in the Middle East’ .

Rumour has it that promises made to Tony Blair by President Bush, which have not been forthcoming forced the hand of the Prime Minister who is widely believed to loose the up-coming domestic elections.

We will hope to have some news from the Whitehouse shortly.

              • CBS is the most liberal channel. FOX News is the most conservative. CNN is in the middle, sligthly anti-American.

You have no idea to what lengths your country goes to promote democracy in the middle east, and with your attitude you will never have.

Oh yeah, right, we're such a promoter of democracy. Yup, all our little democratic allies in the ME . . . hmmm, Israel and Turkey, and it was the Euros who pushed Turkey, not us. Yup, we're really doing a bang up job.

The US government is pushing reforms on Egypt, Jordan and Saudia, which involve decentralization of power, democratic education, women rights and so forth. The reforms are a demand made in exchange for US funds and defense treaties.

The US could have demanded more reforms in a single time - but that would have either lead to instability or to a cut in ties with the US.

Meanwhile the EU is pushing turkey from a democratic status quo to an islamic revolution, by making demands to decrease the power of the military, which in turkey is a pillar of democracy.

Jordan is also moving towards democracy, though it has suffered some setbacks, usually because of Islamic opposition. It is opening up to western media and democratic values such as equality, liberty, free speech and so on.

Abu Mazen, who won by a 62% of less than a million votes, is still a more democratic choise than Arafat, and supports a live multi-party political system, even at the cost of criticism from his own Fatah party.

                        In conclusion - you're a goofball.

                            • Turkey's democracy is dependant on the politics of its army.
No army = islamists come to power = (eventually) sharia law.
Sharia law doesn't go well with democracy (though there are coutner examples i won't go into).

Changes in S.A. and Egypt are very slow... but not non-existant. Just because "The Workers' Chronicle" doesn't report it, doesn't mean its not there. Many things are going on which you ain't aware of, cause you're teh stoopeed.

Btw, your reactions are proof you're basing your arguments on ignorance or "common (commie) knowledge"

                              • If you believe that the very significant advances in civil liberties, human rights, and transparent governance in Turkey during the past few years are less notable than the anemic advances in a place like Egypt, you're absolutely delusional. It wasn't too long ago that your "pillar of democracy" was involved in a genocide; Erdogan (the evil anti-democratic Islamist), with European (the Islamist sympathizers) pressure cleaned up many of the worst excesses of the Turkish state. OTOH, Mubarak extended his emergency laws only something like a year and a half ago (as an aside, he publicly justified it by citing the clampdown on civil liberties in the US). But because the Likudniks didn't mention any of this, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Anyways, an army having a veto on the electorate doesn't go very well with democracy, by definition. And such secular authoritarianism helps the Islamist ideology thrive in the long term.

Of course I'm just a dumb red who can't understand superior beings such as yourself.
