his problem is that he is stuck in the middle, he's got you coming at him from the fairly well to do side.

He's got me coming at him from the "screwed up his finances when he was younger" side.

You and I learned the same lessons, I just learned them the hard way. I'm still recovering, but now I know HOW to recover.

No they can't. It's too much. Someone is holding on to it until Vel has enough money to buy that one.

          • Sure I do. I try to understand where you're coming from.

Of course, where you're coming from turns on a dime about every ten minutes, which makes that something close to a full time job (first thinking is work, then it isn't. Invention is work, and then it isn't. Rent is exploiting, unless the state does it and calls it a usage fee, then it's okay, etc., etc., ad nauseum).

Generally, in a debate, people pick a position and stay with it. You're either pro-choice, or you aren't, for example. Not so with the Kid...he's all over the map. Positions change so fast it makes your head spin.

Yeah, after a while, I admit, I stop following the threads of your unique "logic" but I still enjoy the debate.

            Oh...and this:

They can't buy a house becuase Vel bought it. If Vel didn't buy it then someone would have to sell it to them.

            is entirely untrue.

No one HAS TO sell their house if they don't want to. At least not outside the Kidaverse.

And it's not like I bought the LAST THREE houses on the market. There are more....my little dip into the pool didn't even make a ripple. So no...you are incorrect on all counts.

Bad credit is only another barrier, like poverty. Vel knows there are people with bad credit and people in poverty who can not own their own home, so he buys the home and rents it too them.

              • Know what you mean, Tubes...after a year's worth of unemployment I managed one of the biggest, fanciest, fastest turnarounds in history, I think. From penniless to good life in four months flat.

And Kid...again, no. No one is out there saying "wow...Vel's in the market for another house! I think maybe I'll hold onto mine and not sell it to these nice folks in case he wants to buy!"

                That's not what is occuring.

The market is huge, and I don't KNOW anybody. I have no contacts.

Not that it matters, I'm making my own way just fine.

                I don't need contacts.

                No one does.

They make life easier (or can), but usually come with strings. I don't like strings, so I make my own way.

                That's just me.

Of course not. But your actions work together with the actions of the other capitalists. That way you all have people to rent to.

According to you, if they can't afford to buy a home they should be homeless.

I know for a fact that people just hold on to houses waiting for a higher price, knowing damn well that there are desperate people needing a house to live in. So don't bull**** me.

                      • Umm...did you MISS the part where Vel is renting to people who PREFER to rent, rather than own?

I don't like renting to people with bad credit.

Bad credit = big risk. They could skip out and wreck the place and leave me hanging.

                        No thanks.

You've never owned your own business, have you, Kid?

                        I ask cos well...it shows.

And yes....you clearly missed the part where all of 3% of houses are owned speculatively in Richland County. Three percent.

Again, you're talking out of your a$$ and not making any sense.

I didn't join some kind of Illuminati-style club with the expressed mission to enslave people...sheesh....you've been reading too much communist propaganda.

On the other hand, people with good credit, especially military people can do the same thing.

The mantra of good business is buy low and sell high. Why would it benefit me to pay MORE than the going price for a house? That makes no sense, Kid.

Come to think of it, your entire argument hasn't really been all that coherent today, which is why I asked you to explain and map out for me where the exploitation was occuring.

That you won't tells me that, frankly, you don't know.

But it's "just not right" that I have three houses. That part doesn't sit well with you, so something must be wrong with it. Even tho you can't say precisely what.

That's your beef. Or at least, my take on it.

In absence of an explanation from you, I'll stick with that.

NO Tub. Obviously they should be able to own the house. Don't get me fired up again.
