  • They're making a Civ4 game?!?!

The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.

no, but no one cares about those

actually I do. it is nice to see those touches in a game. but it doesn't make a game unplayable for not having them.

      • With the news of the sale coming out last week, I wouldn't be surprised to see another announcement made sometime this week.

        • It's been purchased by Apple. The first thing they're going to do is put Wonder movies back in. And a map at the end of the game showing one's conquest of Earth through the centuries. And, just for sh*ts and giggles, a "diary" of sorts that lists major events that took place in the preceding game — i.e., the fall of capital cities, the constrution dates of Wonders, peace treaties, declarations of wars and so on.

They're still human. I certainly wouldn't post somewhere where I was being personally insulted constantly, regardless of the money. I work at a retail store, and we certainly expel any "customer" who insults staff members, regardless of their monetary situation.

Isn't BHG a developer (Microsoft publishes for thim iirc)?

There's no reason I could see a developer other than Firaxis buying this, at this time. Firaxis is too far into Civ4 production (including quite playable multiplayer alpha versions) for a new developer to take over. Firaxis might buy the rights to increase the profitshare, but only another publisher I'd think would buy it otherwise - EA, Microsoft, Activision, etc.

I'd have to say anyone other than Firaxis or a Firaxis-linked source would be a surprise, though it's hard to see Firaxis having the cash to buy it outright (without some sort of cash infusion from an outside source). But we'll just have to wait and see. Probably monday.

                      • Exactly. Civ 3 felt like drudgery to me. It needs to be lighter, like champagne. More graceful. The whole thing just felt so tedious.

                        • It seems Civ 4 will be dumbed down, er... I mean simplified, compared to Civ 3. This is supposed to make the series more understandable to newbies but I fear it may make the game to simple for old timers to enjoy.

I'll with hold judgement until more information is available though.

Getting rid of the dozens of workers which must be constently moved around would make the game more enjoyable to me. I hope they go with a CTP style public works fund.
