The "elite" teams are the ones that can pull out a win even when they suck... and both Pitt and Atlanta did that yesterday.

Atlanta is not an elite team. They played the Giants. They should have stomped them.

But they won and are now 8-2. What if they finish 14-2 or 13-3? Will they still not be an elite team because they didn't win pretty? The same thing was said of the National Championship Ohio State team two years back.

Winning is winning... it's that simple. The good teams figure out HOW TO WIN. It doesn't matter if you slaughter them or just eek one by. Again, the elite teams win the games they suck in... and both Pitt and Atlanta did just that.

I think their defense and their QB is elite. I don't think they are as good as Pitt or NE though. That's just my opinion.

I'm not saying they are as good at Pitt or NE or Philly either... but they are in the top eschelon of teams. As Vick matures and learns more and more of the offense, the team will only get better.

Are they better than MIN or GB?

The Falcons will definitly only get better.

I am a big Jim Mora, Jr. fan, and as long as he can hold Vick and pump up that D... lots of prospects there, lots of good coaches... Falcon

                  Niners for letting mora go

I'd say yes. But we'll have to see how Farve is doing in a few weeks. He seems to be heating up and in a few weeks, GB could be 7-4 and we may be saying the Pack are contenders for the SB the way Farve is throwing the ball.

Right now, the Falcons are better than Minny or the Pack.

I think the question is whether the Falcons are better than other AFC teams like Indy. I don't think the NFC is competitive. What AFC teams has Atlanta beaten?

edit: they beat Denver by a point, but got slaughtered by KC

Is anyone else not so sure that Eli Manning is going to be as great as Peyton? He seems to be getting too much consideration for being Peyton's brother.

San Diego & Denver which are both 7-3 and tied for the lead in the AFC West.

KC wasn't their best performance, I'd admit, but totally out of character.

Neither was their win over the Chargers characteristic of San Diego.

They are really on a roll right now.

True, but they were also on a roll before they rolled into Atlanta. They may have had an off-day in Atlanta, but it wasn't like they stunk before the Falcons game.

Hmmm - 17 points already, and the 1st qtr still has almost 4 minutes to go! I think I should've gone higher than the 65 points I put into the MNF total for the Handicappers League!
