Screw the Jews... we've already given them Israel .
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Easy compromise is to make voting a 2-day affair over Saturday and Sunday. So the Christians can't whine because they can vote Saturday, and the Jews can't whine because they can vote Sunday.

That's not a bad idea, Boris.

That should depress democratic turnout as the Republicans who don't want to take time off work will be more likely to vote.

Why would the Democrats vote, unless they get a holiday, and time off?

Like the religious people can't just drop by the booth on the way to or from their place of worship. Or does the average religious americans spend ten hours at church on a sunday?

I think the idea is that voting isn't holy enough to be done on a Sunday, or something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't americans play their bastard version of football on sundays?

When, of course, the opposite is true . Whenever there is greater turnout, the Democrats do better. Whenever turn out is depressed Republicans do better.

Sure, but Jesus picks the winner. At least, that's what the winning quarterback says after the game.

Yeah, well. A lot of beating to the head can do that to you I suppose.

Actually, it would increase Democratic turnout, since the Tuesday date hampers working class voters, who are overwhelmingly Democratic, from voting.

Republicans would be away for the weekend on their yachts, so it's they who would suffer the lower turnout.

Crap... I forgot about the football on Sat and Sun. Better make it on Tuesday and have a national holiday (rather than Monday, so people just don't take a long weekend and say screw voting).

In that case, a Wednesday date seems more sensible.

I still haven't seen any real arguements for going to the trouble of changing something so minor as the date.
