Technically, an employer has to provide you the time to vote... but yeah, making it a national holiday is the best idea.

While I might agree with you at heart, I don't think that a turnout of about 10 % instead of 50 % of elegible voters is what the US needs...

It should be a manditory, paid national holiday.

I've already voted, but I also wish it were a holiday because I don't know how I'll be able to focus on work Tuesday. I'll be way too jittery about the election.

Not possible... many people still have to work whether it is a holiday or not. Plus, contract workers would be screwed, because they wouldn't get paid, while everybody else would.

Don't forget temps, who don't even get Christmas or Thanksgiving off as paid holidays.

You're not the only one. I'm gonna be a miserable person to be around on Tuesday; edgy, jumpy, distracted. Thank God I don't have a job where lives hang in the balance.

I have a week off, so unless something strange happens and either one wins on a landslide, I'll be pulling of an allnighter.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

I can see making it a holiday, but where do you get off forcing employers to pay for it, more than they already are (by forcing them to shut down PLUS pay employees for doing nothing business related)?

Well, I made some personal calls myself to higher up officials and asked them to have it on Tuesday.

I don't believe in your immoral system, so I have no problem with it.

In 2000 it coincided with my birthday(hint hint ) since the election program lasted until about 7am GMT on the 8th...
I'm pulling an all-nighter on this one as well. Probably going to play a drinking game, along the lines of, if Bush wins a swing state then I down a shot of Vodka. If Kerry gets a Southern state, I down a beer and if a 'stronghold' state goes to the other guy, then I take another shot...

Sound good? Any ideas for improvement?
