    • Here's a thread explaining some of the older posters' handles:

      Unfortunately, it's been archived now.
      Holy nostalgia!

I feel that the posters in the old days were really more interesting types than the people that rushed into Apolyton once CtP and Civ3 came out. The old farts were all real civ buffs.

Apolytoners are becoming more and more silly and immature as the years pass.

        It happens with age.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

            • "Gunner" is a nickname from my basketball days... someone who shoots first, passes second.

One of my degrees is in geography. East Asia was my area of concentration...so I selected "Shogun" for a title instead of "King", "Lord", or such.... It's Civ after all!!!!
              Haven't been here for ages....

I'm not familiar with that story?

                        Matthew 12:38-40

                        The Sign of Jonah

Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you."

He answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Hence Whaleboy, in the belly of the whale.

                          • Vel got me here, through Google.

Given the subject matter, I guess, I wanted something ancient sounding... Aeson, Arrian, and Velociryx were all huge influences too, so that was my aim. If I had had the opprotunity, I would have gone with Leonidas first, but some none-active had grabbed it.

'Poly was and has definitely been my entree to the online community world... I am very happy with that, and have embraced being Theseus, me.

Yes. That's right. Because there was absolutely no silliness or immaturity on the OT back in '99, was there? Noooooo, not at all.
