It is. Previously it was elijah which happens to be my surname with a capital "e" . The story behind that was the lower case was a typo , I just got pedantic about it.

Last name turned backwards, with a K instead of a C. And apparently my name means "electric locomotive" (i.e. modern train) in many east european countries. So I guess I am supposed to be more powerful than a locomotive. Or some such.

When I joined, I was looking at vacation brochures. One of them was from Kontiki Tours, it happened to be the first thing I took note of when it asked me for a user name, so I used it.

Arrian = Flavius Arrianus Xenophon. Or just Flavius Arrianus.
Arrian (c.87 - after 145): Greek historian and senator of the Roman empire, author of several historical studies. His most best-known work is the Anabasis, which deals with Alexander the Great.
I read Anabasis (or rather a translation of it) in college and loved it. Considering when it was written, it was amazingly objective. Arrian went out of his way to examine his sources like historians today are taught to do, but was rare back then. He even managed to be critical of Alexander, a man whom he admittedly idolized.
I started using the name when I played Greece or Rome in CivII. I was working on a scenario for CivII when I found this site. There ya go.
Mine is a derivation from my old LAN handle. "Spiff" was a good choice for a variety of reasons, and I love Calvin & Hobbes.
"Spiffor" is my name on the Internet, because I can't stand the idea of calling myself "Spiff1234" or something. I haven't seen any other "Spiffor" on the net, so I'm confident never to stumble on one.

Mine is a play on my name, assigned to me for an e-mail address when I got to college. When I graduated, I was setting up an AOL account () and needed a name. This one was unique and easily recognizable to anybody that knew me, so I went with it. When I joined another forum, I used it again, and have just made this my default internet name since then.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

IIRC, you changed your name at most a year ago, and someone on the forum had actually called you Whaleboy.
