Except they're the Yankees. They aren't supposed to do that.

Well, except for like 4 Canadians who really remembers much about those comebacks (ok, some more may know about those Leafs).

If the Sox win it all, a hundred years hence, Bostonians will speak of Damon's heroics in Game 7 while sitting in Curt Schilling Square. They may go see a game in President Kerry Stadium at David Ortiz Field .

This one, undoubtably, has more staying power.

This statement does not seem to match your previous one AT ALL, you know that, right?

The only one not "supposed" top do anything is Boston winning the World Series. Anything beyond that is in the realm of the possible.

Actually, it does. They've become the saddest team by the sheer fact that

a.) they're supposed to have the best players (number 1 salary in the nation)
b.) they're supposed to be the most dominating team (26 past World Series championships)
c.) they have an actual history and rivalry with the Boston Red Sox, to whom they are never supposed to lose

When it comes to the designation of "saddest team", the 2004 Yankees win hands down. What a team is "supposed to do" and what it actually does determines how the team should rank. Doing nothing of what you're supposed to do makes them the saddest.

The 3-0 comeback is only part of it.

          You know that, right?

Well, all I know is that the 2004 Yankees WILL go down as the biggest choakers. It isn't just that they were 3-0, but were THREE outs from closing the sweep when the wheels came off and Rivera blew the first of his two saves.

Schilling is just a man. That's all there is to it.

hey, I just learned that the Red Sox and the NYY had a trade this year.

We traded the A-rod curse and in return got Mystique and Aura.

Maybe the MFY did so great because they thought they were playing hockey instead of baseball.

Too bad, that game last night just might have been the last game in Fenway this season.

Already cocky- man, the greatest irony in history would be for Boston to go 3-0 and then lose. But that would be too cosmic an occurence for our lifetimes.

That wouldn't be irony so much as a part of the historical trend .

No, that would be irony with a capital I.
