If my team had done what the Red Sox have done, I'd probably be a little cocky myself.
And that's the point, isn't it?
Oldwarrior, while you may have respect for the team, that doesn't mean you don't dislike them
. Most times the teams are extensions of the fans and take on their characterists (hence cocky Yankee ballplayers
). Schilling was saying a lot of stuff that a fan might before the season, for instance. The combination of fans and team is the reason that I think you can't seperate it and say you hate A but not B. I think they are too intermeshed to make that distinction.
Besides, you are a Yankees AND a Mets fan? What do you know?
Though, being a Mets fan, our rivals aren't the Cubs (who knows it might have been in the dark ages
). It's the Braves and we hate the ****ers.
I too wondered what would have happened up in Beantown if the ball thrown back over the Monster had hit Damon in the head (come to think of it, the fans might have cheared at that point).

He was useless until the last few nights, wasn't he?
