Well during a break in the Playoff game tonight, I caught Cheney totally killing Edwards on his missed votes: "Tonight is the first time I've met you". Ouch!

Ooooooooh SNAP! Edwards plays hardball back. Now this is nice, both participants are playing hard and pretty good. So far I think it's about tied, Cheney having the edge. I don't agree with his facts, or some of them, but I think he has the edge debate wise, he seems strong. He reminds me kind of principal/police/dad who is saying you how it is when you have screwed up. Kind of scary, but you knew it was coming at the same time .

He's good, but Edwards is getting tons of punches in too.

The deaths that are relevant here are the deaths in the fight against the Iraqi insurgency. The people on our side in Iraq are relevant as casualties.

Jaguar, the iraqi security etc are not part of coalition. You are sending mixed messages. Stop scrambling

But the Iraqi Security Forces aren't Coalition Forces. The issue was coalition deaths and how much of them were USAmerican soldiers.

I thought his best zinger was when they were talking about the cost of the war in Iraq, and Cheney said that the bill wasn't 200 billion, but 120, but since Edwards wasn't there to vote for it, he wouldn't know.

Yep, the original issue was diplomatic support for the war. Making Iraqi forces irrelevent.

Some Iraqis are part of the Coalition. They fight for the Coalition, with the Coalition. They are trained by the Coalition to help achieve the Coalition's ends.

Cheney said "when you count Iraqi security forces, the US has sustained only 50% of the casualties." You can't decide not to include Iraqi forces just to disprove Cheney's math.

I thought the candidates were not allowed to directly address each other. Edwards just did when he looked right at Cheney and said "America cannot endure 4 more years of your experience".

Both candidates are breaking the rules and the moderator is doing nothin'.

It does make for a better debate but come on.

The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"
