But the Jews/Israelis didn't actually create the state, or decide where it was going to be did they?
Hell, they weren't even organised enough at the time to do so even had they wanted to, and it's understandable given all that the European Jews had been through.

I don't think it's a hoax. I do think, bare in mind also that I'm Jewish, that the best reaction to this is not a politically correct post-holocaust reactionary "omfg teh anti-semitics lets bomb them and rid these people from the face of the Earth and correct them of their *wrong* opinions" because really, in effect, that's exactly the same that they do in terms of their attitude.

I think the best course of action is to understand why they think like that, and address it.

Bare in mind most of them are uneducated, not particularly clever people, impressionable to what they are told, both directly and culturally. The two real problems here are the conditions in which they have lived, which creates a tinderbox for the second problem of a few number of extremist idiots who start lighting fires, so to speak. Change what it is that has made them think that.

I'd like to see what happens if that question is asked the other way, whether a settler would shake hands with a Palestinian.

This broadcast is from Saudi Arabia, so the proper "other way" would be something like asking an American Jew if they would be willing to shake hands with an Arab. If they replied that they would have to cut their hands off if they did, your point might have merit...

I don't think a detailed discussion of the creation of the state of Israel is appropriate here. I could rattle on and on about the foolishness, the flawed biblical prophecy (lev 18:26 *points and laughs*). What they did do is **** it up in terms of relations with the Arabs which were not a lost cause at the time and now both sides are making scapegoats of the other.

You honestly think the two (USA and Saudi) are comparable? . Islam operates on a completely different basis to Judaism in terms of solidarity with fellow members of the religion, whereas in Judaism we have little hesistation in criticising other Jews when we think they're in the wrong (as long as the "chosen people" card isn't played, which is generally only with regards to Israel specifically these days)

As the ridiculous this all seems to all (almost) all of us, it's sadly not as uncommon as I would hope. It's not that uncommon also on apolyton, it seems quite hard for some posters to tell the difference between the actions of a state and its citizens sometimes. i'm not mentioning any names though.

No. The United States is a tolerant country, while Saudi Arabia is a pseudo-Islamist state chock-full of anti-Semitic *********. We're better than they are, which is exactly my point.
