The point re: the Guardian stands, however. Not exactly a paragon of journalistic integrity.

I searched through the article, and couldn't find the words "liar" or "stooge" anywhere. Did you accidentally link to the wrong one?

And Kerry's political life is on life support if anything appears to be going good in Iraq, so I don't expect Kerry to be saying anything good is happening regardless of reality. Just as I expect Bush to be trying to paint a positive picture since it's in his best interest regardless of reality.

Anyone that is expecting anything else probably should be on drugs.

The difference is that Kerry's statements have a basis more grounded in that nasty thing called reality.

Well with the lack of confidence most folk have in the media as a whole it seems particularly difficult to make the proper assessment.

See, thanks to trash like The Guardian people like GePap think they know exactly how good or bad it is in Iraq. But the Liberal media would never report the good stuff, as they all hate Bush.

Well we can either view/listen to lib media or conservative Fox. Picks and chooses. One says white the other says black.

Which only helps Bush, sadly enough.

If anything, coverage of Iraq is focused on the violence and not deeper problems, like chronic unemployment, the uneven rebuilding efforts, and the issues about the coming elections, such as this attempt by the exile parties to form one single gigantic list, thus giving Iraqis a real "democratic choice"...

There's nothing wrong with the Guardian. It's a liberal paper, but the news and editorial remain separate, unlike in Murdoch's rags.

We can acknowledge any progress we might be making in parts of Iraq, but we cannot ignore the serious problems that could ultimately prevent United States and peace-minded Iraqis from achieving their goals.

I'd grant you its no Murdoch paint by numbers (only two numbers, 1 black and 2 white) but The Guardian writes news in an assumptive way, making strong implications and glaring omissions.
