Hey, Gung-ho-cuz-I-don't-have-to-go, if you call losing control of four major cities to enemy forces a strawman, then you need your head examined.
The "strawman," MtG, is that Bush said that everything was hunky-dory in Iraq when he gave that speech with the sign "Mission Accomplished" hanging in the background. That sign referred only to the military victory over Saddam's armed forces.

    • If Allawi is so happy with the state of Iraqi security, let him drive somewhere with Iraqi security around him and try to make a trip around the country sans heavy US escort- yeah, we would see how long that lasts

            • Kerry's trashing of our allies, such as Musharraf and now Allawi, raises the concern of whether he can maintain the "Coalition of the Willing" if he becomes president.

Drake, imagine if you were Musharraf or another of the Coalition who have been spat upon by Kerry. Would you even listen to him if he called?

                  • I'd listen to him, since he would be the president of the most powerful nation on Earth. I'm sure as hell not going to look more favorably upon him than I looked on Bush, though, which is what Kerry swears will happen.

                    • Look at how the Veterans of Vietnam despise Kerry for what he said about them in '71. I suspect he will have a major problem with the Coalition if he becomes president because they too will despise him.

                      • It's pretty pathetic that y'all are criticizing Kerry for not giving enough fellatios to thugs and dictators, and being too close to the democratic states that opposed the war. Your talking points have become a parody of themselves. It really says a lot about Republicans' contempt for democracy.

Anyways, not that I give a **** about Musharraf's opinion on the matter, but you might be interested that WaPo just interviewed him:

Do you think the war in Iraq was a good idea, and how do you think it has affected the area?

I think it has complicated the situation in the Islamic world. It has increased the opposition to the U.S. in the Islamic world.

Most of the states in what Kerry has dubbed the "fradulent coaltion" are democracies and it includes America's best and most trustworthy allies, states like the UK, Australia and Japan. So much for your "point"...

                          • I have no idea what you're referring to. You and Ned just brought up Musharraf and Allawi for apparantly no reason, and were whining that Kerry didn't bend over for them.

Pakistani troops aren't in Iraq last time I checked, and straight from the horse's mouth in the aforementioned article, Musharraf doesn't plan on sending troops there anytime soon. So much for your "point"....
