    • That map shows that democratic voters really like water: they seem to be concentrated on the coasts and across the Great Lakes, Colorado, Missisippi and Ohio river systems.

I hope that the fact that big cities also tend to be near water is merely a coincidence.

Exactly. Now don't forget. Venezuela has a lot of oil. Actually its revenues from it ressemble almost Saudi Arabia's.

The "elites" of Venezuela with the aid of american companies and US government (the americano hillbillo fascists who post here are just their unrealizingly led stooges) want that oil money for their pockets.

Chavez is the man who tries to put that oil money in use for the benefit of its people, the people of Venezuela. Food, education, medical care.

It is natural that they'll try coups against him, defame him do whatever their sick criminal money hungry minds can think of.

In the end of the day what matters is that Chavez is actually just a pawn. A pawn of the people of Venezuela for which he fights. And may all his fight be succesful and as less bloody as possible. He simply expresses their will.

Salutations to him and hold strong.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

No one is greedy and power-hungry for the sake of being greedy and power-hungry. People are greedy and/or power-hungery because they want wealth and/or power!

Really, problem_child, you're thicker than Aggie, and more naive.

Ah yes, the great "counter-revolutionary" excuse. If you guys were original, you might be able to sell it, but commies have done this theme to death.

"All communist revolutions are peaceful, it's the counter-revolutionaries who cause violence. We just suspend the constitution, abolish political parties, impose censorship, confiscate and redistribute property at will, arrest potential opponents, send educated and skilled people who might see through our BS to "reeducation" camps to break them, and if everyone just went along with this without question, while we take what we want, assume all power and **** the economy into the ground, there would be no violence. But those evil counter-revolutionaries."

It just so happens he has to deal with an entrenched elite who think they have the right to run things for themselves.

                      • So you want a more sophisticated leader for the south american country, do you? Like a General that round up dissidents and lefties on a football stadium and then kill them. That's the kind of solid and democratic leadership that never gets unpopular in the US!

Which means at best the opposition lost by a smaller margin than 10%.

But no matter what, the opposition lost. Everytime they have attempted to get rid of him they have only made him stronger. They tried a coup, but ended only with getting all military leaders supportive of the opposition purged. They tried multiple national strikes, and each time in the end Chavez was standing and opposition people were culled out and loyal people installed.

Now, if this stand, Chavez gets his biggest mandate ever....

And these guys are still at it Wait for the coming elections geniuses.

                            • Of course, that's mostly clear by now. The only legal alternative that the opposition has left (other than to stubbornly question the electoral results) is to wait and see..
