Had this been a man sleeping with a female student of a similar age, there is no way in hell he would have recieved as lenient a sentence as she did the first time.
    Yep.

That's my thought on the issue.

The man would have been drawn and quartered.

(unless of course you live in Canada, where you won't be disciplined at all for such conduct.)

Because the victim has been a general ****up ever since, indicating that he has some pretty significant and untreated psych issues. He's a 21 year old unemployed high-school dropout who admitted he doesn't "know what he wants, but he still loves her."

Either he's sufficiently sane to make his own decisions, in which case it should be up to him to decide if he needs being protected from him, or he's not, in which case he should be placed in an asylum (probably not the politically correct label, these days, but you get the point).

Mental health issues have advanced a bit in the last 100 years or so. There's no reason (and no basis in law) to confine him unless he poses an active danger to others.

There's no reason the law should grant a one-off exception to her (since she's already been coddled) in ending the no-contact order which is a standard component of sex-offender registration.

I do. I just think that if he wants to be with her he should have to give up the kids. There's no way she should be allowed within 5 miles of them...

The key is the children though, and a sex offender isn't competent to raise kids

Q: What's the best thing about having sex with 25 year olds?

                          A: There's 20 of them.
