  • Lying about major policy is a big problem, while embellishing a personal anecdote is the norm for politicians. If you can't see the difference between the two, there's no hope for you.

And our winner for first partisan answer is.....

          • Why don't you Repugs show the same outrage for all of Bush's lies?

            • So he might have been in Cambodia on Boxing Day instead of Christmas Day?

              Nice quibble.

Meanwhile, on that day in Texas Dubya is doing lines of coke off a stripper's stomach while wearing cowboy boots and an American-flag thong.

              Sweet.

So obviously he thinks Kerry's lies would be okay, since he has no problem with Bush's. Right? Oh wait...

                • It's funny that same people who are pissed off at Kerry because of getting few medals on injuries that didn't deserve the medals, they're perfectly OK that Bush dresses himself in pilot suit and talks about as if he was actually doing combat missions himself

I know you don't care about my input because I'm not a citizen, but like I said before, cold facts are, Kerry was in, Bush was not, both exaggarated their participation, but at least one of them actually was in there. I would think this is case closed, slam dunk.

In reality I think they both suck. I take issue with the media coverage more than anything else.

                    • Well, the media pretty well ignores Bush's lies too.

I was so hoping for a wittier response than an "I'm rubber your glue" one.

Yet you didn't take issue with the media giving the administration a free pass wrt to Iraq, WMD claims and intelligence, etc.?

My partisan answer is that it's proportionate to the scope and relevance. Government without a certain amount of lying (especially about sensitive national security issues) is impossible.

On a scale of lies, I find Nixon's drivel about the Watergate coverup worse than Clinton's denials about his lack of taste in trailer trash.

I find LBJ's (even though I like the man overall) lies about his undeniably fraudulent WW2 Silver Star as repulsive as "Tailgunner Joe" McCarthy's utterly fictitious account of his wartime service.

I find Ollie North's nearly pathological lying and John "micromanagement is not my style" Poindexter's blanket evasions to have been pretty effective and useful in light of what they were attempting to accomplish.

I find George H. W. Bush's (who I like) "I was out of the loop on that one" denial about Iran-Contra to be pathetic and gutless.

I find George W. Bush (who I don't think amounts to a pimple on his daddy's ass) to be pretty much the same type of self-righteous "if you question anything I say you're a (communist sympathizer or terrorist sympathizer, as appropriate)" approach to lying to be about on a par with Nixon's.

Cheney is a whole different story. At least he has some balls about it - "I had better things to do." At least that's a no-bull**** answer.
When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. "You're fired." "I quit."
