The problem with age limits is greater than that in laws on rape/sex. Why is it, for instance, that you're allowed to vote and do some other things only when you turn 18 (or 21 as the case may be). I know many who are so immature in their 18 years that they clearly should not be allowed to do such things, while others are mature enough at 16 to vote and do everything thinking about the consequences, the limit being just a hassle.
However, there is no way that laws can have any sort of an individualistic approach, which is their weakness. Therefore, some line has to be drawn by age, and one can only hope that it's half reasonable.
