On the other hand, one could point out that the infidelities prove the successfulness of the marriage. For them to still be together after these incidents came to light could be seen as a testament to the strength of their bond. I think most people would see a couple which overcame severe problems and stayed together as being more successful than a couple that was never tested by any problems.
That's a road best left untravelled. There are weaknesses in the marriage, and infidelities will not strengthen a marriage, but rather reveal the troubles that are already there. Rather than celebrate the Clintons soldering on through infidelities, the best approach, if either has any respect for the other, is to stop the infidelities.

If they had a such a strong marriage, why did infidelity arise?

Ben Kenobi was right all along -- it's obvious that the increasing public visibility of gay marriage issue is leading to more people getting a divorce.
Citing this case as an example?

Divorce has been a problem for a long time.

Infidelity is wrong, but it's not abuse, and the reasons behind it are vastly different from violence, as are the effects. Equating the two is an insult to the people who have suffered real abuse in relationships.
Oh, many would disagree with you there, Boris. Infidelity hits hard. It may not be physical abuse, but it can be just as damaging to the relationship.

Clearly this woman was a monster because she didn't stick by her husband when he was dealing with a terrible drug addiction.

People that beat their chests about the "family values" of others need to put their money where their mouth is.
And one should not condemn someone for failing to adhere to a standard higher than your own.

Though we all do it so quickly, eh?

I personally condemn Rush not to phold the high standards he tries to shoves on people's throats.

Had it been anybody that didn't brandish "family values" and "sanctity of marriage" as arguments to deprive Gays of marriage, this thread wouldn't even have existed.

I'm not confusing anybody. The extremist feminists are the ones that the moderates look to for guidance.

How do you like it when people talk about Republicans using only extremists as examples with the presumption that those extremists represent all Republicans as if they were a single, monolithic group?
This is an age old debate more suited for psych or civics 101 so I'm not going to rehash it here but sometimes it is appropriate to use generalizations to describe a group with common characteristics. That's what they are for.

And regarding Republicans specifically, I am not a Republican though most of the cool people just happen to be.

Personally I would have chosen another evil liberal to illustrate the author's point. Perhaps one that seems to actually have a loving marriage like James Carville?

                      Exactly.

To shamelessly rip off Chris Rock...

Hilary Clinton put us all in danger! She put the security of the free world in jeopardy and she needs to suffer the consequences for her actions! She's the first lady! She supposed to be the first one on her knees to suck his dick! ****! Monica Lewinsky shouldn't even have stood a chance! Hilary's supposed to already be down there like "Hey, hey, I got it, I got it! I got it! I got the dick! Tickle his ass or something, tickle his ass! Grab a ball, make yourself useful!"
yep. Chris Rock is my inspiration

I don't much care for the Clintons anymore than I care for Rush Limbaugh. Hillary's marriage to Bill is, in my mind, nothing more than for political advantage. I've always felt it was a loveless marriage, that they put on a show when it serves their purposes. However, no matter how bad things got between them or their image they've never called it quits even as it became clear to everyone that continuing the marriage made no sense. A lot of people were expecting them to divorce after leaving the White House; hell, they might still do so, but it's been 4 years already. Rush's 1st marriage lasted all of 2 years, his second lasted 6. This last one lasted 10. Good for him. Must've been all the painkillers he was stuffing into his mouth over the past few years.

People that beat their chests about the "family values" of others need to put their money where their mouth is. Rush is good at stuffing his face and spewing sh!t out. He needs to put up or shut up.
                        The Clinton's career's aren't over.

Hilary may run for pres in 2008 or 2012.

And Bill may be VP in 2004.

I think they'll stay married as long as it is convenient (sorry Boris, I just don't see the love ever having been there), but after that who knows. *shrugs shoulders*

Hilary in '08 or '12 I'll believe, but WJC as Kerry's '04 vp?
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

                            yeah it's a long shot.

It looks like it will be Edwards. and I do predict them to win.

This seems as good a place as any to say it again:

If Kerry wins, there's a good chance that Hilary will become Attorney General.

And she'll have the USA-PATRIOT act at her disposal.

                              Sleep tight, Republicans.

                                Rush Limbaugh supports family values

He is doing his darndest to support a larger family. How many of you Rush bashers are going to be supporting 3 families (through alimony payments)?
