The problem with the school was that it was religious, not specifically that it was Catholic. I've been an atheist ever since I understood the concept of religion, pretty much - I believe I actually realized this when I was about six. Before then I wasn't really able to seperate the fact from fiction.

      The correct response is
~ If Tehben spits eggs at you, jump on them and throw them back. ~ Eventis ~ Eventis Dungeons & Dragons 6th Age Campaign: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: (Unspeakable) Horror on the Hill ~

        Skywalker:

Is it that it was religious, or is it that it was Christian?

So why do you think you have separated the fact from the fiction? Could it not be the other way around?

Religious. I would be equally pissed if I was forced to study with a bunch of Buddhist monks.

I don't really care if there is a god. I'm just going to try to do right by as many people as I can, and if there is an afterlife...well, I'll jump off that bridge when I come to it.

Something I never quite understood though is why people always assume that God only spoke to a few select people, or only ever laid out one way of life. I mean, why can't God tell some people to live one way, and somebody else to live another? This is God we're talking about, after all, if you believe in that sort of thing.

What I never understand is how they make the leap from "God says this" to "this is right". Why do they assume that, just because God is omnipotent, one ought to do what he says? Isn't that just an extreme example of might makes right?

Kucinich, thankyou for your counter argument. I enjoyed reading it and I really want to give you a proper answer instead of replying without thinking. Just letting you know I have read it and I shall post my response soon.

                    Cheers.

Bakunin and Nietzche despised God and Christians for a good reason in that due to Sin even Christians screw up..big time.

I just wanted to say that Bakunin rocks.
