Wait, so Kerry, who went to Vietnam, fought, and won I silver star I think (certainly at least a bronze star) did not stood by his country during Vietnam, but Bush did?

I am sorry, but what is the measure of patriotism? Unlike anyone in the Bush admin. save Colin Powell, Kerry fought for his country. Yes, he came back disillusioned by the war and what was being done-but since when are American supposed to stand aside and ignore their beliefs when they think the government is wrong?

Lincoln protested the Mexican American War-did that make him a coward?

Yeah, sure, cause all of that will be done on behalf of the American people. Kerry's efforts might be more vanilla but would be in the interest of "the people of the world" cause thats the way he thinks. Anti-nationalist.

          GePap, good points.

I said I would vote for Bush OR any other non-democratic president candidate.

Sometimes beliefs can cause more problems than they help with. Two examples...

Religion aganist religion. (Crusades and the uprising in Israel)

Religion aganist science. (Evolution and Big Bang Theory)

I feel that beliefs are to be tolerated, but not when it runs aganist common sense.

Eh, I'm left of Kucinich on foreign policy, but I'd still vote for Bush.

He served less than a year, and received 3 purple hearts and a silver star.

After he gets his 3rd purple heart, he goes home, and then rallies against the Vietnam war.

Something seems fishy to me. 3 in less than a year? Unheard of.

OK Ben, I call BS on you. AFIAK, you get a purple heart even if you get a wound that requires some care but which is light enough so you can go back to serving within a few days. So it would certainly be less than unheard of to get three such injuries, and hence 3 pruple hearts in under a year.

So what the **** are you blathering about?

I would never take a man's military service into account when I'm deciding to vote for, because to do so would be to betray every man, woman and child whoever died for this country.

I'm considering voting for al-Sadr. I think he's the only one who can unite the country and end this crazy war.

It should be interesting to see what Bush can do when he doesn't has to be sensitive 'bout public reaction knowing he can't be elected again anyway.

It will make some great TV though.
