Not true at all. The majority of people in the US don't buy into communistic ****. The majority still believes the war was right and it is remaining that way.

One sentence: Look at your avatar. Don't try that with me tass. Have you ever heard of Putin's little dirty war in Chechnya? If you are so anti-war, then why have that man in your avatar?

I wonder who's organizing these marches... Could it be... the commies?

            Commies
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                Yup.

So long as they're the right buildings, what's the problem?

Nope, its people who don't have jobs and haven't found Apolyton and therefore have way too much free time and nothing to do with it.

Although I guess that would be Commies.

Your last attempt to define conservatism was an abject failure. You basically said that conservatives support tradition because they distrust change. If that's not to dissolve into moronic paranoia, it must simply mean that they support change when it will do good and not when it won't. If that's what they mean, then it is a platitude shared by pretty much everyone.

But if we look at what they do, rather than what they say we can see that conservatives are quite happy with radical change when it involves the destruction of a fifty year old welfare system. They really believe in inequality and nothing you, or anyone else, has said has managed to raise a good argument against that point.

Inequality is the unifying idea of the political right. It is what shows fascism and capitalism to be of the same ilk.

Maybe Asher was right about philosophy profs . They simply can't seem to get their heads around reality, passed their preconcieved notions about certain ideologies.
Asher's politics are a joke, so who cares about his opinions.

Agay, do you really think you have been successful at defining conservativism than others around here?.

You'd think it wouldn't be that hard of a concept to figure out seeing as it is little more than "hard Wilsonianism" to steal a phrase from you.

As I said, there is a massive gap between what they do and what they say.

And DD, you still have never contributed one interesting argument to any thread I have ever seen. What's up with that?

Neo-Cons aren't Conservative. They are actually fairly liberal in thier outlook on international realations the only area where I've seen the ideaology advanced with any vigor. So I fail to see how your fairly simple minded attack on conservatism has anything to do with what I said.
