  • Na, Na, Na, Nader!

WASHINGTON — Former Green Party candidate Ralph Nader is poised to declare that he will seek the presidency again this year, this time as an independent and despite a vigorous effort by the left to dissuade him, according to friends and associates.
"I think there's very little doubt," said Micah Sifry, author of a book on third-party politics and a longtime Nader watcher. "I think he's going to run."

Nader, blamed for tilting the 2000 election to President Bush by siphoning off votes from Al Gore, twice has delayed saying whether he would be a candidate, but insiders expect the declaration next week.

Sifry is part of the campaign to stop Nader from running, including an open letter to him last month in The Nation, a liberal magazine that has been associated with Nader for 30 years. Nader contributors from 2000, such as Ben Cohen, a co-founder of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, also are organizing "No, Ralph, No" efforts.

Some Nader advocates had an epiphany after the 2000 election. Bush beat Gore by 537 votes in Florida, where Nader received 97,488 votes. Nader also arguably cost Gore New Hampshire.

Nader always has rejected the spoiler label. "It is not my job to elect my opponents," he has said.

Funny, all for democracy until the wrong guy runs .

He may well have more appeal this time around, especially to angry Deaniacs if Kerry wins. Unlike last time, there is a big, emotional issue he can take advantage of: the war. Both Kerry and Edwards voted for the war and want to continue it. The left wing is out in the streets calling "End the Occupation now" That's grounds for a real schism...

Now that I think about it, that makes sense. It seems that democrats in the US have once again showed their stupidity and incompetence.

Why? Because they'd rather have around 49% rather than the 30% they'd get if they were gung ho against the war?

I object to the fascist republican line. I am tired of this fascist thing. I can understand it's use in a blatant troll but the institutional, cultural derision of republicans here is disturbing.

            Especially since we are right.

Nader would just be another nail in Kerry's coffin. He would hurt Edwards too, but Edwards would draw a lot of independants that Kerry never could.

Don't worry, I plan to run to detract the Bush voters.

                My platform:

More wars with nations filled with foreign-looking people and France
                Completely eliminate taxes
More government spending (nuclear missile detonated at the center of the earth project)
Less government (reducing it to soley the presidency )
                Prayer in school and inquisitions
More interesting scandals to watch on TV
                Look at the pretty kitty!

Vote for Nader. It's the last hope left.

If Nader runs... and Kerry wins the nomination, Kerry will lose. Simple as that.
