I don't think it is so much discrimination in every case. We had muslims at college who demanded vacation during Ramadon and other muslim holidays, and wanted no ramifications (extra school hours, cut vacation time) to make up for it.

Now discrimination and racism are present no doubt, but there is a fine line between equality and special privlages. I disagree with the headscarfes ban, but the French are applying the ban across the board on all relgions. That is not discrimination.
