Sorry, sorry. I haven't heard the song in years, and I accidently said Richie when I should have said Stevie Wonder. People can make mistakes right.

I was probably thinking of Lionel Richie's "Do it to me". That's a great song too.
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

The writing credits for this song (also admirably performed by 10 000 Maniacs on their MTV Unplugged album and a single release) are 'Smith, Springsteen'.

It's from Patti Smith's album 'Easter', released 1978, and was also a single for her in the same year.
Believe me, I know the song- I'm old enough to have bought it when it came out, and to have crouched in front of the speakers writing down the lyrics, as any fan would...

I have my issues with commercial music as well Albieeeee, but the words to this song is what triped his trigger as well as mine we would both hear it while seperated and it brought memories of the things we had shared and done etc....and made both of us realize what we wanted.

Creep-Radiohead has a special place in my heart, a surreal night spent in a club (The Hungry Duck) in Moscow "slowdancing" to this song with a hot muscovite. Of course, the locals didn't quite understand the words, methinks.
