    Who is not being civilized?

All I'm noticing is you and Agathon are both ignoring what you don't want to hear -- Agathon by downright ignoring it and you by skirting around it with a veiled ad hominem.

        Another iTunes review

I think this sums it up pretty well.

I laughed when I went to the Apple site and saw that they call itunes the best Windows app ever. Now I am enjoying a playlist full of Beck and I think those sons of *****es might be right.

Haven't we already been through my opinion of Gabe and Tyco before in the console threads?

How could it be the best Windows app ever when it doesn't do anything other Windows players already do, uses several times the resources, has a virtually uncustomizable and huge interface, plays a limited subset of media types, and runs like molasses?

Because I just dropped the BF off at home since he has to get up early for Jeet Kune Do class, and it's too early to go to bed.

Because somebody wanted to minimize iTunes to tray:
This can be done using an utility like rbtray. Available here: http://www.geocities.com/rbtray/
This not lets you minimize itunes to tray but all other windows software as well. It uses about 2Mb of System memory (quite a bit for a 19k app). But it's kind of handy sending OE to tray for example.

                    • How come nobody's talking about the effect the launch of the iTunes music store on Windows will have on Microsoft's attempt to shove Windows Media Audio down the throats of the public? Apple is singlehandedly pushing the AAC format and, with their marketshare lead in music download sales, they have a good chance of making AAC the de facto industry standard. This scares the **** out of Microsoft, of course, which is why Asher was on here right away to bash iTunes. Must've got an emergency action message from Redmond...

"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

What did you do to get it that small? The smallest it got for me was 25MB.

                              What an interesting spin.

Apple is attempting to shove AAC down the throats of the public, simply because it's not Microsoft.

At least WMA9 is far cheaper to license and more powerful. And we won't even mention Apple's proprietary DRM that they refuse to license out in AAC...

Which is why the iPod is the only player that can play iTunes music, which is precisely what Apple wants.

MS offers far more choice, believe it or not. WMP9 has 3 digital music stores to choose from, and supports virtually all devices...
