The following screenshots were taken with the default Winamp 5 skin in a few of the configurations that you can place them in (all of the windows are detachable and can move around).

Best of all? This thing isn't any slower or uses any more memory than Winamp 2.x, and supports Winamp 2.x and 3.x's skins and plugins.

Playing the same song I tested in this thread before, Winamp 5 uses 7.4MB of RAM and "0%" of my CPU consistently.

I have to admit, that is a lot better looking than the other stuff Asher shows off on these boards.

It looks even better now that I discovered you can turn off the menus.

Can iTunes read album art stored in ID3 tags? Or do you have to set it for each album (Drag Album Artwork Here)

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think all the art that iTunes uses is stored in the ID3 tags. When you drag art to the art pane, iTunes automatically stores the art in the tags.

Now I obviously use neither WinAmp nor iTunes, but from my tests of xmms and rhythmbox, I can tell that interfacely I prefer the latter. I have committed a virtual desktop for it so I like it big. I never figured out how to simply find a particular song I wanted to listen to in xmms, you know. Perhaps such a thing does exist - I've seen a search dialog being used in Winamp - but I have never been told where to find it. iTunes/rhythmbox has a conspicuously placed search feature, and I like the way it manages the music library (which is not the same thing as a playlist).

Oh, here it is. I pressed random buttons in xmms and apparently 'j' was the hotkey for the search function. I wonder if that was documented somewhere ...

/me wonders what happened to winamp 4??
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Same here. I use the taskbar quite a lot, and I hate when it appears / disappears all the time. When I'm not playing full screen, I like my computer to remain static and calm so that I can work more efficiently
