"Scapegoat", Japher? Why scapegoat Davis when the whole thing was a regulatory failure caused by Wilson and exaserbated by Bush. Place blame where it belongs.
Don't get me wrong - Davis is the sort of democrat that makes me vote Green. By don't hang this albatros around his neck. This turkey was Republican in origin.- "A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it still ain't a part number." - Ron Reynolds

Davis pretty much signed those contracts under duress while CA was having sever power outages. The present contracts, at the time they were signed, were needed to keep the power flowing.

Even after he acted, his solution of getting the government into the business of buying power was typically Democrat and stupid. He should have instead let the power companies enter into long term contracts and simply assumed the debt the power companies took on because of the difference between the cost of power and the prices they could sell it that were mandated by law.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

And Ned, I'm not sure that Davis could have done much at that point. Moreover, the power companies were not to be trusted at that point either.- "A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it still ain't a part number." - Ron Reynolds

Show me a candidate, from either party, who has a definite solution to the budget crisis in your state, and I'll withdraw my objection.
The simple fact of the voters replacing Davis will send a message to everyone to stop ****ing around. Ultimately, to solve the problem, you're going to need someone with enough knowledge of how the state government is structured to be able to tap a lot of special purpose funds lying around, and someone with the balls to take on state agencies and special purpose agencies (DWP for one). When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. As a voter (were I in California) would I be able to vote NO on the recall, but still validly vote for a successor in case the recall vote succeeds.
The way it works is that you vote up or down on the recall question, and optionally vote on a replacement on a separate section of the same ballot.
If you do not vote yes or no on the recall, but select a candidate, that is not be a valid vote - you must vote either yes or no on the recall question in order to vote for a candidate, but it doesn't matter whether you vote yes or no, as long as you do vote on the question. When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. Once again I am seeing it, and I have posted this observation many times to which everyone says that is not true:
When a dem is in office all their mistakes are because of something a repub did years ago (sometimes decades), but when a repub is in office all their mistakes are due to that repub...
I love it.

Economics and finance knowledge are essential, because there are a number of valid structural reasons that state services costs more to deliver in California compared to other states, but, there is also a huge amount of money lost to fluff, empire games, and relatively poor accountability. When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. If I didn't despise the idea of living in Sacramento, taking a sizeable pay cut, and dealing with those asswipes in the legislature again (In the mid-90's I had to register as a state lobbyist for some work I was doing that involved dealing with legislative committees), I'd consider it.
A lot of people wouldn't like the short-term results if I won, though. When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. "You're fired." "I quit."
