  • Davis will be recalled!

It is official, the people have spoken. The enormously unpopular California Governor Gray Davis will stand for a recall election. If the majority vote for recall, Davis will be replaced by the candidate receiving the most votes on the same ballot. At this time, no Democrat will run against Davis, thus assuring a Republican or Independent will replace Davis should the recall succeed. As of now, the majority of Californians want Davis out.

Arnold Schwazenegger is considering running as are a number of other Republicans, Independents, etc.

What is interesting about all this, is that this is not a two-step procedure. The replacement election is conducted at the same time as the recall election. This virtually guarantees that any replacement will receive only a small plurality of the whole vote. Also, the fact that Democrats will not field a replacement candidate essentially means that Democrats have to choose among Republicans, Independents, Anarchists and Wacko-Greens for a replacement.

    Interesting.

Thank goodness... that SOB must go.. and besides his hair style sucks. He didn't really do anything at all to prevent California sliding into a budgetary crisis... .

A democract will run: if it is clear Davis won't make it, it would be foolish not to pick a candidate of thier own, and there are plenty of dems. who would win against all Republican comers, except perhaps Riordan, who is Center for a Republican.

Gepap, I doubt that seeing how the democratic party has failed California.

Fez, you know my opinion of you, which is rock bottom, but this is too absurd to ignore: lets see, the Dems control the Governorship, the leuitenant Gov, Both Houses of the legislature, both senate spots, and I would bet, though I am not sure, that they have the plurality of Congressional spots form the State as well, plus Bush got wipped there in 2000. Add to that that, when voters were asked about possible candidates, Ahnold and Riordan both came in with 11%, while Sen. Feinstein came in with 28%.Oh, and if you are just goign to call me a liar, get your skinny ass to the websites of California state and fed. government and see just how "failed" the Democracts in Cali. are.

The democrats did fail California... they may control the state but there is discontent with them.

I also never said anything disputing any of the claims there.. so get your head out of your bottom.

Oh yeah! I forgot that the Republicans gave that last election away. Idiots.

Anybody could of easily defeated Davis, except Simon.

No, there is discontent with Davis. If the liuetenant governor or Feinstein run, they would win the office.

The question is, do the Dems. stick by Davis, who as unpopular as he is is a top notch money raiser, or do they let him sink and not allow the Governorship to go to a Republican? I think eventualy, like in a week or two, Davis will be abandoned.

Oh, and the last sentence would be cute, coming from a 5 year old. Grow up.

Well I been seeing news that they are standing by Davis.. here let me dig up an article..

"The state's Democratic officeholders have closed ranks behind Davis and say they will not run."

Is it me or was that a very bad move?

Give it a few days and they'll smell Davis' blood in the water.
