So, one again, You have no evidence, YOU HAVE NOTHING!!!

It was definatly Reagan's fault with S&L. he gave in to the comercial bank lobby who were complaining to him, and of course he allways sided with Big Business and made S&Ls have to have higher interst rates on loans, screwing the poor people.
You know, I tough time taking something called a "Misery Index" seroiusly. Is there an "Overjoyed" index to go along with it?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

In all fairness, it was the homosexual's unsafe sex practices that caused most (not all....sniff...Asimov) of early AIDS cases in the US.

            • As someone who never cared for his policies, I still gave him a 6.

He was a very successful president vis a vi PR, and created a great image around himself. No, he is not responsbile for bringing down the soviet union, but he did act well when it came to handling Gorbachev, who si far more responsible for the end of the USSR.

He had very little vision of interna politics: he cut taxes, but then had to raise them again, and he never did much to get any significant cuts in services made, even with all his popularity.

I think people like the remmeber the glow of mid-80's Reagan, instead of the second term, speically Iran-Contra, which I do think he had somehting to do with.

Reagan did not bring about the AIDS crisis -- it was already beginning before his term.

Don't you think he was neglectful when he became in a position to do something about the crisis?

And I take it you never read the book, "And the Band Played On?"

                • Also -- there were gay political leaders who are just as guilty.

The pro-bathouse leaders played politics and greed with people's lives during the early part of the crisis.

He should have authorized more research funds sooner, rather than later. Various medical research facilities were hamstringed under tighther, stringent budgeting due to government cutbacks. By the time hundreds of Americans have died, he should have taken a serious interest in this emerging epidemic.

Why did he feel there was no compelling reason to head-off a new disease?

He was one of the idiots who thought AIDS was a gay's disease, I bet he wanted the gays to die because he was such a religious wacko.

                          • Come on... I think a lot of people underestimated the danger - the vast majority did. "Hundreds of Americans had died." Well, thousands of Americans die from other things. He was neither more nor less shortsighted than anyone else.

                            • Terrible President. Screwed the economy, accelerated the exodus of industry from America, killed the working class, signed a blind amnesty, automatically forgiving millions of potentially dangerous illegal immigrants...

                              • For those who believe in America, Ronald Reagan was a great president. Fot those who view America as the great evil, Ronald Reagan was a bad president because he restored American power and prestige.

For those who remember the seventies, America was shaken to its foundation by the humiliation of Vietnam, by the betrayal and political corruption of a president, by the stupidity of his successor, and by a radical leftist anti-American president who blamed the American people for the failures of his presidency.

America's honor, power and prestige were in severe decline. Its economy was a shambles due to wage price controls begun under Richard Nixon and continued with a vengeance with respect to oil and gas prices by an excessively anti-American Jimmy Carter. Communism was advancing across the globe and the Soviets were in Afghanistan. The Ayatollah Khomeini held our hostages. A former ally had become an enemy.

Into this stepped Ronald Reagan who changed everything. He fixed the economy by ending price controls and by reducing taxes. He invested in the military and stood up to the Soviet Union as no prior president had. By the end of his presidency, the USSR was in total collapse and the Berlin Wall was about to fall. Ronald Reagan single-handedly rescued the United States from the chaos of the seventies and rescued the world from Communism.

History will view Ronald Reagan as at least a critical president in the history United States and probably one of its greatest presidents due to his accomplishments.
