Your dad was a economic parisite, along with the rest of Haliburton.

For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

No he had an education and actually worked for a living. He was out blasting oil wells or something along those lines.

MY PARENTS WORKED THIER @SSES OFF!!!

Obviously they didn't work good enough . Hell, my parents did it, why couldn't yours? Seeing as how well our parents did is a barometer of Presidential success .

He was only doing the right thing.

Raping the planet is spreading around leftism.

I think some of you guys are confusing the early 80's with the late 80's.

two different times. you could say Reagan's economic policies finally kicked in- I'm not sure about that.

But my family struggled in the early 80's. That was the poorest I have ever been. But things began to pick up in the mid 80's.

I can't complain about Reagan's economic policies. They appeared to keep the U.S. on track.

It's not hard work that leads to success. But smart work

                        work smarter, not harder

                          Dissident:

the Libertarian idea "hard work equals success

Which Libertarian idea is this? One you made up out of your own ass?

The Libertarian idea is that hard work combined with intelligence and/or ingenuity will gain you success. I don't see any person saying working harder at the assembly line will make you rich .

actually, it appears that reagan didn't have too much to do with the soviet union's collapse.

the soviet union was suffering from an inability to manufacture enough consumer goods; and when glasnost and perestroika came along, it touched off nationalism in the baltic states, which spread like wildfire through the rest of the ussr, leading to its ultimate dissolution.

The only negative thing I remember was the Savings & Loan's Going down the crapper (I know Iran-Contra but I didnt pay attention to it at the time). My Dad Had a real good job & the S&L sh** put him out of business for awhile. Does anyone know who to blame for the S&L dissaster?
