film critics are usually snobbish types that generally have unpopular opinions... IIRC... "Titanic" got rave reviews

As a 22 year old college student, I feel I can relate to people of my demographic much better than some overpaid pompous asswipe that thought "The Talent Mr. Ripley" was a good movie.

Titanic was also one of the best-selling movies of all time, so I guess the critics were not the only ones that liked it.

Anyway, on The Matrix - Didn't understand this one. I just wanted to see some fighting but did not see enough.

            And the ENDING??!?!?!?!?

What a ripoff! "To be Continued???"

What is this, a daytime soap opera????

All we needed was the sappy music for that one and it would have been perfect.

I went insane for about 5 hours the morning after I saw it thinking about things that didn't make any sense.

I'm not whooly sold on the idea that Trip has talked about; the "Matrix within a Matrix." I grant that it's possible, but also other things are possible. Like what if the "programs" are lying to him so that he sees his deeds/future as futile and decides against saving Zion since it doesn't really matter. Or the "Six times" that Neo has gone through to meet the Architect; the Architect is mistaken and is itself caught in a loop of "simulations." Or that the Oracle planted a virus into the Architect through Neo causing the Architect to believe certain things and to report fallacies to Neo.

There's list's of what if's from here to eternity......

I'm happy overall with the movie, even though I have my own reservations about the plausability of the actions I saw in terms of the plot. Like Neo's sudden ability to "link" with the Sentinals at the end.
You see, that's the thing. The reason he could do that to the Sentinals in the "real world" was because it wasn't real... it's just another Matrix, and Neo can control and change things just like the other Matrix.

I actually heard a movie critic say, "I had no idea what they were talking about through the entire movie."

                      • I loved the movie, I really like how they made the distinction between Architect and Programmer, a lot of people think they're the same.

This is the sort of thinking that zap-fried my brain the other night.

I was getting that feeling too. and since in the matrix, what your mind percieves something to be true is true (like dying in matrix kills you) maybe his doubt that maybe he isnt in the matrix limited him from being godly when he tried to stop the sentinel.

                              Something like that.

Hopefully thats soemthing that can be rectified with watching it over again or thru the 3rd installment. Otherwise I'd be pissed.

But why do I have a feeling that this series is just gonna pull one of those "we wont explain anything and leave you walking out scratching ur head"?
                              :-p

I just saw Matrix and was going to mention in this thread in case no one else had that it appears that Neo discovered that he was in a Matrix within a Matrix.

                                Interesting act of "self-awareness."

When is the next edition going to be shown? Next summer?
